The Environmental Program Staff person will support the summer programs of Salal + Cedar, an organization that builds the capacity of people of faith to act for environmental justice. The major task is to help plan, promote, deliver and debrief Sacred Earth Camp, a two-week environmental leadership program for Indigenous, Settler and Migrant/POC youth and young adults.
We are seeking a person who compliments the diversity and skills of our current staff and will mentor the right applicant to grow into this position. Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and meet the Canada Summer Jobs criteria. Posting will remain open until the job is filled.

Required Safety Training and Screening
The successful candidate will complete basic First Aid, anti-oppression training, and Diocese of New Westminster’s sexual misconduct policy training before the start of camp. Before signing a contract a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search must be submitted.
Time Commitment
This position averages 35 hours/week for 6 weeks starting July 9. The applicant must be completely available to work full-time with sleeping shifts from July 29-August 10 on site at Southlands Farm, Vancouver and Sycamore Commons, Powell River as a live-in camp leader. Room and board, a daily rest block, and time off are provided, exceeding the requirements of the BC Employment Standards Act. Other employment hours have some flexibility in terms of scheduling.
