Psalm 29 The Voice of God

In this Psalm the Divine speaks in the more than human world.
Read the psalm aloud outside in the natural world in one or more translations

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
   ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name;
   worship the Lord in holy splendour.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
   the God of glory thunders,
   the Lord, over mighty waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
   the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
   the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
   and Sirion like a young wild ox.

The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
   the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl,
   and strips the forest bare;
   and in his temple all say, ‘Glory!’

The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
   the Lord sits enthroned as king for ever.
May the Lord give strength to his people!
   May the Lord bless his people with peace!

The Voice of our God in Lower Fraser Watershed, Coast Salish Lands

The voice of our God is the call and response of Chickadees
The voice of our God rustles the leaves;
Our God rustles the leaves lightly.
The voice of our God speaks in incalculable ways;
Our God’s voice is more varied than the songs of all birds
The voice of our God is stalks growing fast after rain.
The voice of our God is ever present like the constant whirr of traffic
The voice of our God is made of many voices.
Listen to the humming of the bees in lilac and you will hear Him.
Do not be afraid of His voice.
The voice of our God blesses the earth with sunlight.
God’s blessing warms.
The Voice of our God is in the shout of my exuberant neighbours
The voice of our God is verdant with love;
Heard in the flutter of every leaf.
The voice of our God is the cat’s meow;
Reminding us to share our Love.
The voice of our God isn’t much for direct answers.
